Maple Season Underway

My in-laws have a maple farm, Rocky Ridge Farm, in Bridgewayer NH. It’s not a big operation, but it keeps everyone in the family togther during the early spring. It’s a lot of fun. It smells as good as you’d expect!

Last night, I asked them if we could hold the sap and boil at night, as I wanted to take a picture of the sap house at night. I wanted to get a long exposure, with the sparks coming out the chimney, the steam coming out the cupola, and the stars befpre the moonrise.

Near the end of the boil, I set up my camera to get the shot before we headed home for the night. I had my son load the arch, to increase the amount of sparks, and the shot can be seen below. You can purchase an 11x14 print if you’d like to add it to your home.

Camera settings: 25 second exposure, F9.0, 17-40mm lens, 19mm, 1000 ISO.
