One of the things I’ve wanted to do for sometime now is go to New york City during the holidays. This past weekend, Angie and I went down and experienced some of the city for the first time overnight.
From a photography point of view, I had my heart set on Either Top of the Rock, One World Observatory or The Empire State Building, at sunset. Well, Mother Nature did not cooperate, and the first two days were either raingin, foggy, or clouded in with a low ceiling. We ended up hiking around the city Friday and Saturday, experiencing some of the iconic spots, before the clouds lifted Saturday evening just in time for us to get a night time skyline shot. I am thrilled with this first one, I am calling The City That Never Sleeps.
For my photo geek friends, it was shot at 8 seconds, f5.0, 19mm on my 17-40mm lens. I ran it thru lightroom, hit it with a preset, ran a dehaze brush over the clouds and voila. I was surprised when the sky colors popped, but I didn’t add those colors at all.
I will have a lot more to talk about regarding this trip, which we traveled from Central Park down to WTC. I hope you’ll keep coming back to read about it.
